HITCHMOUNT-RACK for Canoes / Kayaks

Regular price $734.99

The Hitchmount-Rack.V3 is a multi-functional, hassle-free, and modification-free hitch mounted rack system for Jeep vehicles

This hitch mounted rack enables you to carry kayaks, paddle boards or other loads suspended above your vehicle. The Hitchmount-Rack does not interfere with the use of your top, and is compatible for use with soft-top and hard-top Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators and Broncos.

The system is designed for ease of use and durability.
Each Hitchmount-Rack ships with: Rack System, Strap Accessory Kit, Hardware, Hitch Pin and Clip, Long Load Safety Flag, Stabilizer-Spacer Kit, and 42" rack pads.

NOTE:  This rack system works for all Wranglers including the new Jeep Wrangler 4xe, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle. The electric charge port of the 4xe is located at the bottom of the driver's side A-pillar. The charging port position does not currently allow for mounting solutions for various racks and makes a hitch mounted solution an easy choice.

The Hitchmount-Rack.V3 has an extended lower base that has 6 inches of adjustment to compensate for various spare tire and bumper systems (tire width's from 9-14"). The V3 also includes a Stabilizer-Spacer Kit to provide fit for your backup cameras as well as various bumper and tire configurations.
The crossbars are 42" and ready for your load.

A comon QUESTIOn from our customer is how many Kajaks you can carry with this Rack

The Hitchmount rack can handle two yaks without drilling holes in your Jeep or buying a trailer. You put it on when you need it and take it off when you don’t - no permanent cage over your vehicle.

You have a few options for carrying your boats:
(1) Just load them up and strap them down
(2) Add some J-type cradles (I normally recommend Thule or Yakima but other brands will mount on the 1” tubular crossbars)
(3) If the yaks are flat you may be able to stack them.
Just remember the longer and heavier the load, the more straps are needed to keep everything stabilized.
See the pics for illustration.

All racks ship with the new Stabilizer/Spacer Kit to enable the customer to get the best fit for their rack.

Jeep Gladiator owners may want to consider using the Bicycle Carrying Attachment reversed as a brace atop their tailgate to make up for the lack of a spare tire for stability.

Another comon QUESTION is if the rack can carry a 15' foot canoe

Yes, a 15’ will work on the rack with some additional precautions:
(1) add a bow/stern line back to the jeep, and
(2) it is sometimes good to place a foam block between the boat and the top of the windshield for a longer load.
When attaching the foam, attach to the boat and allow it to sit on the top of the front windshield then tighten a front strap to the lineman loops on the hood or run all the way to the front bumper.
